Recent political events in Egypt, Tunisia and lately Libya, make it obvious that when young people channel their passion and will towards a common objective; they can be a strong force in demanding and effecting change in political leadership and ensuring good governance. Therefore, these leaders of tomorrow can begin to make significant impact on their own future and the future of their nation, starting from today.
The challenges in making an impact lies in the difficulty to clearly articulate the problems requiring their intervention, in order fot them to proffer workable solutions and possible alternatives. This explains the frustrating experience of young people in badly run society but unable to do much about it.
“ A Thousand Ponits Of Light” Summit will enrich 1,000 young men and women in Nigeria on several initiatives, raising their capacity to effectively and intelligently engage their leaders and government on national issues, in a peaceful but forceful manner.
A Thousand Points of Light” will begin conversations across the social media network on these national issues and in the process involve thousands of other young people in the very important conversation of how to advance the progress of the nation . An introspective generation is a key element in reinventing our nation. It will also assist to build a network of young people of like minds from which individuals can draw energy from.
Who to attend: Undergraduates from tertiary institutions across the country including Law School Students, Youth Corpers / recent graduates and other young people who may not yet be within the formal tertiary educational system , youth organizations between the ages of 17 and 29.
